DESCRIPTION:
Pierre Joseph Toussaint [1822-1888] was a Belgian genre painter of children and everyday life. As a studio artist, Toussaint would use the same base figure drawings for multiple paintings. Midday drink, ca.1867 depicts a young boy in profile drinking from a pitcher. The same figure drawing was used for another painting from 1867 with the addition of a second figure and change of environment.
