DESCRIPTION:
Heidi Marie Steinke Meade (b.1974) is an Ohio, Mid-west artist that explores the uncomfortable hyper sexualization of young women. Her controversial art is subversive, sweet and creepy. Steinke’s works in various media including pen and ink, alternative process photography, and oil to depict her themes. The work is similar to the artist Henry Darger. She is currently the Executive Director of Arts Place Inc, an Arts Organizations in St Marys, Ohio.
The work shown here is an early college work shortly before her break-out shows at the University of Kentucky.
