François “Frans” Verheyden was a Belgian genre painter. He studied under J. Langlois [1855-1904] and Jean-Louis David [1792-1868] in Paris, both of which specialized in genre and portrait painting. Verheyden was awarded a gold medal in Brussels in 1845, but he worked particularly in Antwerp, Belgium. Cracked eggs, ca.1850, likely painted in Antwerp, depicts a young man in the process of preparing food.
