Most known for his depiction of cats, dogs and horses, Sheppard and his flock, ca.1880 exhibits Lambert’s wide range of animal genre painting interest. Likely the plains of Crouy Oise, France, Lambert painted sheep earlier in his career, before becoming almost exclusively known for his charming genre cat paintings.
